The “Workshop on the Functioning of Professional Associations” organized by the Copyright Directorate General was held with the intensive participation of professional associations. The workshop, which was quite successful and to which participants contributed with their questions and opinions, began with an opening speech by Şükriye Şirin, Head of the Legislation and Professional Associations Department of the Copyright Directorate General. THGM Coordinator Ahmet Yener Koçak then gave a presentation titled “Current Practices in the Scope of Trade Union Membership and Regulations,” THGM Expert Mehmet Savaş gave a presentation titled “Points to Consider in Trade Union General Assemblies,” and Expert Ebubekir Özden presented on “Duties and Powers of Mandatory Bodies of Professional Associations,” Expert Esra Tanrıverdi İcik presented on “Auditing of Professional Associations,” and MESAM Financial Advisor Mustafa Bozkurt presented on “Points to Consider in Financial Transactions and Bookkeeping of Professional Associations.” Representing our professional association at the workshop were our Board Member Abdulkadir Taner Elhan, our Secretary General Soysal Demir, and our Assistant Secretary General Destina Melis Özakgün. 

 

During the workshop, which included refreshments, representatives of professional associations took the floor to share their views and ask questions. The main topics discussed were the Authorization Certificate, legislation on royalty payments, obstacles to royalty collection, and problems encountered at general assemblies. The workshop concluded with wishes and requests for such efforts to continue.
